North Jakarta Deploys 22-Pump Fleet to Battle Floods

The North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency deployed 22 mobile pumps on Sunday (1/18) to tackle flooding triggered by heavy rainfall and rising sea levels.

We're committed to a swift resolution

North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Heria Suwandi explained that alongside the mobile units and task force personnel, personnel also activated 72 stationary pumps across 22 pumping stations. These pumps, with capacities ranging from 150 to 1,000 liters per second, are being operated in rotation to manage the water volume.

"The mitigation process is taking longer than usual because the high sea level makes it difficult for us to discharge the water," he noted, Monday (1/19).

He confirmed that several high-traffic locations submerged since Sunday morning—including Jalan Kelapa Gading Boulevard Barat and Jalan Gunung Sahari Raya in West Pademangan—have now fully dried out.

Despite the progress, the agency is keeping its foot on the gas, maintaining mobile pump deployments across the district.

"We mobilized six mobile units specifically for Jalan Gunung Sahari Raya. We're committed to a swift resolution for any remaining hotspots to ensure the city gets back on its feet," he added.
